ABOUT Swati
Swati Gupta is a Massachusetts-based scientist, artist, and photographer driven by curiosity about structure, bias, and form — how they constrain us, and how they can be reimagined. Working across oil, acrylic, photography, and participatory practice, she uses visual form to interrogate the invisible systems that shape perception and choice.
Her panoramic photographs capture what the eye misses in a single glance. Her paintings—layered oils and fluid acrylics—explore the tension between structure and fluidity, control and surrender. In collaborative work like Jiyo Re Laado, she investigates how collective creation can challenge fixed narratives, particularly around gender and identity. Proof by Palette is her investigation into what art can prove: what stories emerge when you move from equations to color, from data to chaos.
Swati is based in Massachusetts and is an Associate Professor at MIT Sloan School of Management, where she researches optimization, AI, and algorithmic fairness.
